Choosing the Right Fountain for Your Pond

Pond size is the most important factor. As a general starting point:

• 1/2 HP — best for ponds up to half an acre
• 3/4 HP to 1 HP — well-suited for ponds between half an acre and one acre
• 2 HP and above — for larger ponds, commercial lakes, and HOA water features

Voltage is the second consideration. Most residential properties can run 115V or 120V through a standard outdoor GFCI outlet. If your pond is more than 200 feet from a power source, or you're running a 2 HP or larger unit, you'll likely want a 230V or 240V setup — which requires a dedicated circuit.
