How does the Ice Away De-Icer work?
Its patented motor mount/diffuser lifts warmer water from below and redirects it outward at the surface, preventing ice from forming around docks, boats, piers, and shorelines.
Do I need the prop guard?
It's optional, but recommended if your water has a lot of debris or trash, since it helps protect the propeller from damage.
How deep does the water need to be?
It works best in 3-6 ft of water, typically suspended 5-8 ft deep, though it can be adjusted to work shallower or deeper as needed.
Does it use oil like other de-icers?
No — it uses an oil-free, water-cooled motor with no seals or bearings to fail, so there's no risk of oil contaminating your water.
How much maintenance does it need?
