Airmax Power House Ice Eater Gen 2 – Dock & Marina De-Icer
The proven Ice Eater, redesigned. A compact motor mount that doubles as a directional-flow glide cage replaces the old large shroud — guiding debris past the propeller while making the unit easier to handle, install, and store.
For decades the Ice Eater has protected boats, docks, and marinas by pulling warmer subsurface water up to the surface — stopping ice before it forms and melting ice that's already there. Since acquiring the Power House brands, Airmax has kept that proven performance and rebuilt the housing around it.
The traditional large shroud is gone. In its place is a compact motor mount that also works as a directional-flow glide cage, steering debris past the unit and away from the propeller to reduce the chance of obstruction and damage. The smaller footprint also makes the Ice Eater noticeably easier to lift, hang, and put away for the off-season.
Guides debris around the unit and away from the propeller, reducing clogs and prop damage.
No bulky shroud — easier to install, pull in the spring, and store through the off-season.
Six mooring points around the mount rim let you run it straight up or angle the flow toward shore.
6" two-blade on the P500, 7" two-blade on the P750, and 7" four-blade on the P1000.
Stainless motor can filled with non-toxic dielectric fluid — no added lubrication required.
Backed by Airmax's 3-year limited warranty on new complete Ice Eater purchases.
Hang the Ice Eater directly beneath your boat pointing straight upward to open a circular area from the center outward.
Moor it at the end of your dock with the flow angled back toward shore to open a longer, oblong area. Moving the second shackle around the six holes on the mount rim gradually increases the angle.
An operating depth of 2–3 ft is ideal when angled; upright installs may need to go deeper for gentler surface disruption. Always keep the unit at least 1 ft off the bottom.
Open-water diameters are approximate and based on normal winter conditions — call us if your dock, boat, or marina falls between sizes.

Runs your Ice Eater only when temperatures call for it, cutting energy costs. Available in 115V and 230V to match your unit.
A more secure alternative to mooring ropes that lets you adjust depth, direction, and angle from your dock.
Adds vertical adjustment, 360° rotation, and tilt for shallow-water installations (P750 & P1000).
What's different about the second-generation Ice Eater?
The large shroud has been replaced by a compact motor mount that doubles as a directional-flow glide cage. It guides debris past the propeller and makes the unit smaller and easier to handle, install, and store — with the same proven de-icing performance.
Which model do I need?
As a rough guide, the P500 opens about 40 ft, the P750 about 60 ft, and the P1000 about 80 ft of water in normal winter conditions. Call us if you're between sizes.
How deep should I hang it?
2–3 ft is ideal when the unit is angled. Upright installs may need to go a bit deeper. Keep it at least 1 ft off the bottom, and account for falling tides or low water if you're hanging it from a boat or floating dock.
Can I install it after the water has already frozen?
Yes, as long as the ice is several inches thick. Cut a hole at least 3 ft long by 2 ft wide so the ropes keep the unit from twisting, lower it in, and it will melt the surrounding ice.
I have a first-generation Ice Eater. Can I still get parts?
Yes — Airmax has committed to keeping exclusive first-generation Ice Eater replacement parts available for the foreseeable future. Call us and we'll track down what you need.
Is this the same as the Bearon Aquatics Ice Eater?
It's the same product line — the Power House Ice Eater was previously sold under the Bearon Aquatics name and is now made by Airmax.
